February Favorite 15

Today I had the opportunity to attend the baby shower of my dear friend, Lesley. Lesley is having her first baby in May, she is having a little girl. Since I am a Mom of boys only- I kinda had a hard time trying to decide what I should buy for Baby Girl. Needless to say I succeeded in my decision.

Lesley's sister Ryan- just so happens to be my sister in law; hosted this destination baby shower in Georgia- both sisters grew up here, (but moved in the last several years to opposite sides of the country). I had fun Catching up with friends, eating delicious food. The shower was lots of fun. The decorations and table arrangements were beautiful, and then to top it off- all the guests were given a party gift bag. This included lots of yummy chocolates, Victoria's Secret PINK body lotion, and my new Favorite body mist from Victoria's Secret.

February Favorite 12

Last week, my sweet DH got sick with the flu. Unfortunately for him, the flu bug decided to make his visit while hubby was away on a business trip to NYC. He returned home the day before Valentine's Day, so I thought I'd be real sneaky and I planned to surprise him with a nice steak dinner. Upon speaking to him after he landed; he let me know he would not be eating anything when he got home, he just needed sleep. Good thing I hadn't seasoned the steaks yet. I'd just save them for the next day's dinner. Once again, hubby wasn't feeling the hunger for a juicy steak.

So for Valentine's Day, I opted to make my Favorite soup.

Nothing says Romance like a nice pot of homemade chicken noodle soup! Happy Belated Love Day!

Recipe below picture.

Ingredients:

3 or 4 chicken breasts
1 can of chicken broth
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup of chopped carrots
1/2 cup of chopped celery
1 pound of egg noodles

salt to taste
white pepper to taste
dash of garlic powder.

Place chicken in large pot, cover with water and bring to boil.
Once chicken has cooked- about 25-30 mins. Then shred or chop chicken.
Leave chicken stock in pot, and add the can of broth and cream of chicken.
Combine chicken, veggies, and seasoning with the soup.
Bring to a boil, add noodles and cook for 10 minutes.

Enjoy the Taste of!

A Favorite picture of my sweet family. PMP has been taking our family pictures since my oldest was in my belly. I love the way she is able to capture the boys personality in the shots. She works great with children and husbands. I am amazed at her talent. If you are lucky enough to live in the great state of Georgia, you need to book a session with Pam Jones of Paris Mountain Photography! Either way be sure to check out her site, click the picture for the link to view her site and be sure to check out her blog as well. She ROCKS!

My Favorite blanket to wrap around me, is from Lands End. I own the exact blanket. I love how vibrant the green is. This blanket is large enough to have on a twin size bed. Lucky for me I purchased one on Cyber Monday 2010 at 50% off. I am waiting for these blankets to go on sale again so I can snag a few more.

As long as I can remember, I've always been on the search for a really good hand lotion. Over the years I've tried lots and lots and lots of creams, lotions, and ointments.

That search ended a few years ago when my sister, Rachel introduced me to my Favorite hand lotion; True Blue Spa- Look Ma, New Hand!

This lotion is not greasy, it smells heavenly, and gives me the results I've been looking for. I definitely recommend this lotion to everyone. You can pick up a bottle at Bath and Body Works, or just stop in and sample the lotion, you will be hooked!

Enjoy Your New Hands!

Music

I love music, I enjoy listening to music, singing along to the words, I love watching an artist live. I'm really lucky because my sweet hubby sings, plays guitar and piano. He is really talented. I'm hoping he will record an album in the very near future. I don't have ONE single favorite artist, in fact there are a handful of musicans that I will always support and will buy their cd. Brandi Carlile, Faith Hill, Jewel, Jessica Simpson, and Garth Brooks

February Favorite 1

I read this book early last year. I loved this book. I laughed and cried, and even bawled like a baby. When I finished reading this book, I was sad. I missed the characters, Kate and Tully. I felt like they were my friends. This book goes through 3 decades of history with Kate and Tully. I've included an excerpt below.

EXCERPT

From Firefly Lane

written by: Kristin Hannah

excerpt taken from kristinhannah.com

CHAPTER ONE

They used to be called the Firefly Lane girls. That was a long time ago—more than three decades—but just now, as she lay in bed listening to a winter storm raging outside, it seemed like yesterday.

In the past week (unquestionably the worst seven days of her life), she’d lost the ability to distance herself from the memories. Too often lately in her dreams it was 1974; she was a teenager again, coming of age in the shadow of a lost war, riding her bike beside her best friend in a darkness so complete it was like being invisible. The place was relevant only as a reference point, but she remembered it in vivid detail: a meandering ribbon of asphalt bordered on either side by gullies of murky water and hillsides of shaggy grass. Before they met, that road seemed to go nowhere at all; it was just a country lane named after an insect no one had ever seen in this rugged blue and green corner of the world.

Then they saw it through each other’s eyes. When they stood together on the rise of the hill, instead of towering trees and muddy potholes and distant snowy mountains, they saw all the places they would someday go. At night, they sneaked out of their neighboring houses and met on that road. On the banks of the Pilchuck River they smoked stolen cigarettes, cried to the lyrics of “Billy, Don’t Be a Hero,” and told each other everything, stitching their lives together until by summer’s end no one knew where one girl ended and the other began. They became to everyone who knew them simply TullyandKate, and for more than thirty years that friendship was the bulkhead of their lives: strong, durable, solid. The music might have changed with the decades, but the promises made on Firefly Lane remained.

Best friends forever.

They’d believed it would last, that vow, that someday they’d be old women, sitting in their rocking chairs on a creaking deck, talking about the times of their lives, and laughing.

Now she knew better, of course. For more than a year she’d been telling herself it was okay, that she could go on without a best friend. Sometimes she even believed it.

Then she would hear the music. Their music. “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” “Material Girl.” “Bohemian Rhapsody.” “Purple Rain.” Yesterday, while she’d been shopping, a bad Muzak version of “You’ve Got a Friend” had made her cry, right there next to the radishes.

She eased the covers back and got out of bed, being careful not to waken the man sleeping beside her. For a moment she stood there, staring down at him in the shadowy darkness. Even in sleep, he wore a troubled expression.

She took the phone off its hook and left the bedroom, walking down the quiet hallway toward the deck. There, she stared out at the storm and gathered her courage. As she punched in the familiar numbers, she wondered what she would say to her once-best friend after all these silent months, how she would start. I’ve had a bad week… my life is falling apart… or simply: I need you.

Across the black and turbulent Sound, the phone rang.
Enjoy!
