Review & Giveaway: Pregnancy Book- Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat?

Updated!!!!
I forgot to tell you when the giveaway ends. Silly me. It ends Jan 25th. So enter away!!!
I was very excited when I was asked to participate in my very first blog book tour by TLC Book Tours. The Book is called Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat? The Essential Guide to Loving Your Body Before and After Baby. Written by Claire Mysko and Magali Amadei .

First let me tell you how much I love the title of this book! Clearly while you are with child you will gain extra weight but must you call yourself fat? I think not and this book is here to help any mother or mother to be embrace their changing body and motherhood. We need to learn now how to accept healthy life styles and reject diets and numbers numbers numbers so we can be the right example of how to love your body to our dear children.

They interviewed more than 400 women while writing their book and came up with the top 12 body fears women have while pregnant. I will admit I checked off four, Stretch Marks -I rubbed lotion on my belly all through my pregnancy. Lucky me I didn’t get one on my belly….I did however get them on my boobs, butt and legs. Haha.
The others I checked off were Flabby Stomach- check!, Hemorrhoids and Episiotomy thankfully no.

(Me during my preggo shots. The book also gives adive for those, fashion during & after and beauty tips!)
I am sure you all had fears too. It’s great to know that I wasn’t the only mother to be out there worrying about these things.

In the book they asked two great questions
“1. What attitudes about food, weight and body image do you want to instill in your child?
2. Do those attitudes match your own?”

These questions can give you a lot to think about and the insights in the book can help adjust your way of thinking.
Not every pregnancy is the same. Some have harder pregnancies than others and some enjoy every minute of it. I loved these pictures from th book depicting women’s emotions during pregnancy.

My favorite part of the book was the section about celebrity moms. This was my favorite because I have such a hard time with them! I don’t understand why mothers would even begin to compare themselves to these women. They have soo many more resources than we do. Such as, nannies for during the day and night time, cooks, and trainers. Then after all this help they have the nerve to say they are “hands on parents” Ha! Make me laugh. Let those women live a week in my home with the limited resources I have and they will be exhausted not always looking perfect and happy parents who are very hands on!
I don’t want to tell you any more or you may not read the book!!

Want to WIN a copy of Does This Pregnancy Make Me Look Fat?

All you have to do to enter is tell me why you would like to read it or who you would like to give it to!!

I would love to read this book! I'm pregnant with number two, and never lost all the weight from number one (got preggo when daughter was 9 months old!) and have had a tougher time accepting what my body is doing this time around!

I would love to read this book. Im pregnant with number 2 and Im almost there (due next month)
I would however give it to my best friend who is trying for her 1st baby at the moment so she will have a better understanding of what happens to our poor bodies when we are pregnant. We really never truely understand until it is happening to our own bodies.

I would love a copy because I'm trying to accept my post-baby body. I loved being pregnant and accepted the changes. Now the trouble is loving where I'm at. This sounds like a fantastic read.

I hoping to get pregnant with my 2nd baby soon. I'd love to read this book! It is hard on the body to be pregnant and I'm still not back to my pre-baby weight.

It is so hard! I have 2 girls 17 months apart, and the youngest is 8 months. The weight is still here, and I could totally use some perspective!

I'd love to read it just to feel like I'm part of everyone else. It would be nice to know I'm not the only one.

Sounds like a great book! I love the emotions pictures from the book. I think that women can relate to them even when they aren't expecting.
I would love to read this and pass it on to my dear sister-in-law that is due this spring.
Thanks for the great review!
